TV Chat Has a New Home

I've enjoyed talking about my favorite TV shows with you but with several blogs to maintain I'm finding this one is being neglected. I'm not happy with that outcome so I've decided to move my TV Chat discussions to What's That Buzz.

For those not familiar with What's That Buzz it was started in August 2009 as a product review and giveaway site. I've decided to make it more than just product reviews and now Buzz about all things of interest to me and that includes my beloved TV Shows.

I hope you'll join me at What's That Buzz so we can continue our discussions at the virtual water cooler that I enjoy.

Grey's Anatomy: The Music Event

Callie and Meredith on Grey's Anatomy
What was up with Grey's Anatomy tonight turning into a musical?  I did enjoy the music but it was a bit out there at times. It took me a few minutes to realize the singing was all in Callie's head and even though Owen and others were singing in the OR and everyone was ignoring them and going on with business as usual it wasn't like Singing in the Rain where the characters break into song at the drop of a hat. There was some reason for it.

Sara Ramirez (Callie) has a great voice. Did you know she's a Tony Award winning actress and got her start on Broadway. She's also done a few concerts and has an LP available on iTunes which she wrote several of the songs. Of course my husband thinks she's the most beautiful woman on the show and I have to agree.

I was biting my nails hoping Callie wouldn't die but figuring they couldn't do that again, have a character die in a horrible accident. I really hope that baby makes it but having worked in a NICU with babies that small it's a long shot in real life but I have to remind myself this is only a TV show.

During the singing numbers I was trying to figure out who was doing their own singing and I really think everyone was. I came to that conclusion when a few weren't that good. I mean if they dubbed their voices they would have gotten stronger singers for the parts. I could tell right away that Chondra Wilson (Bailey) was doing her own singing. Of course she's also an accomplished singer and was nominated for a Tony for the musical Caroline, or Change.

Kevin McKidd (Owen) did his own singing and he wasn't too bad either. I'm glad the actors with the least amount of talent either sang with a group or very little on their own while the best singers had the most solo performances.  Have you ever seen or heard him outside of Grey's Anatomy?  He's Scottish and has a slight accent that's rather cute.

I can't wait until next week to find out if the baby lives and if they give her a name at all. The only thing I know from the previews is it needs surgery. Heck, we don't even know if it's a boy or a girl yet do we?

Spoilers:
I read there's a possibility of another pregnancy at the end of this season and it's not Meredith and Derick but Christina and Owen. The question to be asked if this is true; how will Meredith handle it?

Both Callie's and Arizona's parents are coming to Seattle Grace for May sweeps. Does this mean there might be a wedding happening? We already know that Arizona proposed to Callie and the answer tonight was yes.

It was so/so for me. I loved Callie/Sara's voice. She can truly sing, but I thought the episode was just not grey's KWIM?

Kas....I know exactly what you mean. My husband was laughing throughout the entire episode whenever someone burst into song. He felt it "Jumped The Shark" on this episode but he said the same thing when Izzy was having sex with a ghost.

My husband was like I guess they figure it works for Glee, so it should work for them too. I was a little annoyed/distracted by all the singing. I'm actually sort of excited they're going to show the NICU experience on TV, not many shows dare to venture into that territory and there's a lot of us out there that have experienced it.

Texas....I'm a Registered Respiratory Therapist and worked int he NICU for years so I love to watch and make sure they "do it right". I also love how they have those little robotic babies or whatever they are look so real. It's so amazing.

Blech. I hated it. I will never understand why shows do that. The last thing I expect to see when I watch Grey's are a bunch of people singing. I think they ruined what would have been an awesome episode by doing that.

Something else I didn't like - how they brought Addison in. I love when they bring characters in from other shows like that, but they gave her such a small, impersonal part in the episode.

LeeAnn...I'm hoping since Addison wasn't in Private Practice this week she'll still be at Seattle Grace and will be the one to do the surgery on that little on.

I loved it. I think it was unique and added an emotional aspect that really fit the story. I do think they were trying to be like Glee though, lol.
